Ribbon fan-out pigtails
Ribbon fan-out pigtails are made of ribbon fiber optic cables. It is generally installed in closet area or horizontal patch extension from
consolidation point to the workstation outlets. Ribbonized fibers are primary coated fibers placed next to each other in one plane.
An acrylate coating or polyester tape keeps the fibers together. The fiber is flat type. Most common are 4-, 8- and 12-fiber ribbon cable. Ribbon pigtails use a special device to protect the separated optic fibers(for example 12 cores),through connectors
to accomplish links with other cables. Ribbon fan-out pigtails generally have two types:jacket ribbon fan-out pigtails and bare
ribbon fan-out pigtails. Jacket ribbon fan-out pigtails have outer jacket on fiber ribbon. Bare ribbon fan-out pigtails have no
outer jacket and generally protected by transparent tube.
